Calving season is an exciting time of year, with baby calves starting to sprinkle the ground of many cattle farms. Thankfully, most calves are born uneventfully. Occasionally, however, some cows require assistance for issues such as an incorrectly positioned calf, or if the calf is too large to fit through the birthing canal. Knowing when to intervene is essential in helping minimize calf losses this spring. Don’t hesitate to contact your veterinarian for advice, and remember that emergency services are always available for those after- hours difficulties as well!
